Graphic Design
Graphic Design elements include buttons, highlights, backgrounds, watermarks,
clipart, pictures, themes, sounds, video and animated graphics. Wow!
Each of the links in the Menu at the bottom of this page reviews basic aspects
of each of these elements.
But first, a few words about Graphic Images.....
Graphic Images
- And Some Legal Words:
- Graphic Images
can be provided by the developer and/or by the website
owner. Images can be made (i.e., an original) or they can
be purchased, or even obtained free, from suppliers of
images. Images can be created from scratch with programs
such as Jasc's Paint Shop Pro, Microsoft's PhotoDraw, Adobe's
PhotoShop and many others. Images can also be scanned from
existing hard copy. Digital cameras have recently become a
huge source for photographic images.
- Regardless of how an image is acquired, both the
website owner and the developer must concern themselves with
ownership of any images used on the site.
- Some clipart libraries
grant full use rights. Some image suppliers require a
license. There are stiff penalties for misuse of images
owned and copyrighted by others. Images of famous
individuals and commercial products are normally not permitted to
be used without the permission of the owner. It is always
best to use original work (work paid for and owned by the web
websiteowner), formally licensed images or images known to be in
the public domain.
-
We include a section in the Web Design Contract which covers ownership and
licensing of graphic images used on a web site developed by El Valle Consulting.
